I have always been a vagabond in nature; always seemingly on the move and even though I want to nest, if I do it for too long I panic just a little. Perhaps that\’s why I travel so often and am once again going from place to place. But what this has taught me is that truly, your home is where your heart is and if you\’re open to it, it can be anywhere – even a hotel room. When I look for a hotel, I have certain needs such as location, decor, safety but most importantly, cosiness. I often want a room that could be a room I would rent if I lived in that hotel. There are exceptions to this; there\’s no Ritz I could actually rent but enjoy that and the Four Seasons just the same – even if they can become a little generic and cold feeling (save the Ritz Paris and Four Seasons Henri V!). But for the most part, I want a room to feel like a little home since that is literally where I\’ll hang my hat.And after a red-eye to New York from Los Angeles, and then a day around New York with amazing, talented, rock star women (thank you Sara for giving me my first subway ride, Summer for words of wisdom and Felicia for the tour of NY) I needed to head home and unwind. I had been in the same clothes and mascara since 8AM the previous morning and wanted to just wash the day of travel off. When I got back to my lovely room at the 70 Park Avenue Hotel, the lights were low, there were battery operated \”candles\” going, a martini get up and a Jazz CD playing. And did I mention that Felicia had so very kindly given me a book I have been coveting for a very long time? Oh, and the best part – I had bought out Babycakes (we\’re talking $50 worth of baked goods) so I had Pink Cupcakes, too? See, home!As I walked through the city, sat in a couple of cafe\’s, looked in a couple of shops and dished with my New York girlfriends, I felt at home. Which is good for it\’s where, for the next two nights at least, I\’ll hang my hat.
Home is where the [hat] is
