After a busy day of hosting a garage sale yesterday and packing up this morning, we decided on a whim to dress up, go downtown, share a parfait and mocha and see the movie, Finding Neverland.

It did wonders for our souls on so many levels, I couldn't even begin to tell you how. Here's what the Director has to say:

"My favorite part [of making the film] was being able to do something that I believe was magical and stimulated my imagination," Forster said. "And I hope I conveyed that in the film. That it will stimulate people's imagination, that they will write things or do things or believe in things that they didn't believe in before."

So, if you find yourself in need of a little magic, a little comfort, or a little time to remember what it's like to see the world in a different way, I encourage you to go. And let it change you a little.

There's an outside, old-fashioned shopping area near my home, one that has turn-of-the-century homes that have been converted into art shoppes, restaurants, home bits and lots of birds that flock in the nearby river and on the boardwalk.

So whilst walking down the lane I wasn't surprised to hear a rooster making noise but I was surprised to see what he was doing.

He was sitting on the first rung of a ladder that was leaning against a building. He flapped his wings, made a scene and then flew up to the fourth rung. He repeated this all again until he was at the 8th, then 10th, then the top.

At the top of the ladder he made the biggest fuss yet - wings flapping wildly and noise coming out like there was no tomorrow. So I walked in closer to see him and then I noticed a sign on the ladder.

It read: Please, do not climb ladder.

When I went to pick up a few groceries, I noticed the $10, $15 and $20 food bags were once again out. It's where the store packs food into a bag and you purchase it for the amount above and the bag is donated to needy families.

The first time I saw this was several years ago in a different country and store. And I feel the same way about it now as I did then.

I've been collecting information on various places for my attempt to create a more balanced organic home - mainly the bed. Here's a bit of a share of what I've found:

- Gaiam Organic Home: luxury linens that are all organic. Their main page has really amazing home goods (a little washing machine for clothes! fabulous!). They also offer gift registries (I've gone crazy with mine password:alexthegirl).

- Lifekind: the best organic beds around. These have been highly recommended from all over. Not only do they customise a bed, but they offer a 30 day exchange and a 20 year warrenty.

- AFM Safecoat: Safe paint

- White Lotus: organic futons and frames. I've never liked futons but after seeing some of these frames, I'm reconsidering.

- Vivaterra: wonderful home goods from spa to kitchen (beautiful recycled glass glass. I'm eyeing the contour dinnerwear).
