I’m a writer, that’s what I do. I tend to write about the ordinary and (hopefully) make it extraordinary. I don’t write about bowel movements, daily tidbits or what I picked up at the grocer. I don’t actually write a lot of personal things since I’m a private person. The way I see it is that my writing here has more to do with being of use to others by sharing information or ideas I have. It’s not a blog or a daily event. It’s writing about life and all the little bits that happen in it.

I’ve written in several ways on alex the girl; there’s the simple snipped I called “text“, hand-coded archives before 1999 and then WordPress archives post-1999. Take your pick.

PRE-1999:

I began this blog in 1995 before there was Blogger, Movable Type and Wordpress so I had to hand-code all my entries. Each month I’d create a new design and rather than lose that, the very old entries of 1996-1999 must be viewed separately. But be careful – one tends to be a little dramatic in their early twenties.
