Kodak 616

February 19, 2003

Years ago, my mum gave handed over to me her Kodak Junior Six-16, a camera that was sold between 1935-37 for about $12.

In perfect condition, I was in such awe of this camera that I let it sit for years on my shelf or in a box; the thought of using it seemed ridiculous. Use such an old, amazing camera? To take photographs? The thought!

Yet today I pulled it out and began my search for Kodak 616 film so that I could use it. Having something just for the sake of sitting doesn’t go well with me, everything has to have a use. Just looking at something to say I can look at it, what’s the fun in that?
